About Tal Hörer

Tal M. Hörer is a surgeon, vascular surgeon and docent in surgical sciences at the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery and the Department of Surgery at Örebro University Hospital. He is affiliated researcher at Örebro University. He is the medical director of vascular surgery unite at Örebro University Hospital and of the EVTM’s (EndoVascular Resuscitation and Trauma Management) research group.

Research

Tal Hörer’s research is mainly focused on endovascular and hybrid surgical procedures for bleeding control, on resuscitation, on haemodynamic instability, as well as on advanced endovascular methods. This entails extensive clinical and research practice within vascular surgery, surgery, intensive care and trauma.

Tal Hörer is involved with various national and international research groups. He is the founder of  the EVTM platform, society and is editor-in-chief of JEVTM (www.jevtm.com), a Scopus and Web of Science-indexed medical peer-review journal.

He is leading various project on tools for bleeding management and resuscitation, as well as heading up research and clinical practice on aortic balloon occlusion (REBOA). Several projects are international and include multi-centre trials.

In cooperation with other colleagues, Tal Hörer has been principal editor of and authored textbooks such as EVTM (Springer 2019) and TopStent (USÖ 2017), and has contributed with chapters in other textbooks, including the DSTC manual, Akutkirurgis operationsmanual (Studentsliteratur), and RICH vascular trauma.

Tal Hörer supervises several projects in close collaboration with colleagues at Örebro University Hospital. He is principal supervisor and assistant supervisor of a number of doctoral and medical students. 

He has chaired the seven international EVTM round table symposiums, and led many EVTM, REBOA and trauma workshops.

Tal Hörer has a strong interest in medical innovations, for example he is the co-founder of Coala life heart monitor, and his motto is: “No ego, just good science and collaboration and good-will doing!”.

Teaching

Tal Hörer gives lectures nationally and internationally, among other contributions at various conferences.
He is the course director of EVTM, trauma and REBOA workshops, which take place two to four times a year.
