Combinations of arterial and venous endovascular balloon occlusion - a new method for management of traumatic retrohepatic venous and vena caval injuries?
About this project
Project information
The aim of the project is to develop novel methods for temporary isolation of blood flow to the liver in severe, life-threatening bleeding from the inferior vena cava and retrohepatic veins, thereby gaining time to repair the traumatic injuries. Furthermore, to find the optimal combination of endovascular and / or open vascular occlusion from a circulatory, metabolic, inflammatory and organ damage perspective. The research is carried out in animal experimental models and includes physiological, metabolic and inflammatory measurement methods.
