Om Åsa Jernudd
Åsa Jernudd är docent i medie- och kommunikationsvetenskap och forskar om filmkultur i historiskt perspektiv. Hennes doktorsavhandling (2007) handlar om hur film introducerades i en mellanstor stad i Sverige (Örebro) och de sociala och kulturella sammanhang som filmvisning var en del av och som präglade de tidiga biograferna. Jernudd är intresserad av formerna och sammanhangen för att se på film och av publikens upplevelser av film; film som händelse, praktik, minne och kulturarv.
Hon var drivande i utvecklingen av kandidatutbildningen Filmprogrammet vid Örebro universitet och var programansvarig 2015 till 2019.
Jernudd är medlem i styrelsen och redaktionsrådet för Föreningen Mediehistoriskt arkiv samt i Riksföreningen biografernas Komitté för biografutveckling.
Undervisning
Jernudd tilldelades Örebro universitets och Örebro studentkårs Pedagogiska Stipendium 1999. Hon har även tilldelats stipendium inom Excellence in Teaching-programmet utfärdat av Stiftelsen för internationalisering av högre utbildning och forskning (STINT). Stipendiet gav henne tillfälle att vistas vid Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information vid Nanyang Technological University i Singapore höstterminen 2011.
Jernudd undervisar på Filmprogrammet.
Forskning
Jernudd arbetar vidare med den stora mängd data som genererades i samband med projektet "Filmpubliken i Sverige: En studie om biografens storhetstid och tillbakagång (VR) (2019 - 2022)". Det är en publikstudie om biografer och minnen om filmkultur i Sverige på 1950- och 1960-talet. Förutom att nedteckna och levandegöra ett kulturarv innan det försvinner, undersökte studien upplevelser av den så kallade biografdöden i början på sextiotalet.
Parallellt skriver Jernudd på en artikel i vilken hon testar en tidsgeografisk metod för att klargöra hur en dagboksskrivares biovanor förändras i ett samspel med andra aktiviteter och relationer i hans liv. Tiden som undersöks sammanfaller med den tid då biograffilmen institutionaliserades, från 1914 och fram till 1924. Hur kom biograffilmen som nytt medium att förändra Holmströms fritidsaktiviteter, familjerelationer och umgänge? Projektet har som working-title: Att gå på bio på tiotalet: En dagbok berättar om biografens institutionalisering.
