Method for assessment of information assets

Being able to identify and value information assets is important to assess the asset protection, for example, to make cost-effective investments in information systems security. This project aims to develop a method to identify, evaluate and classify information assets in organizations. The method should serve as a basis for organizations, mainly in the public sector, but also for private organizations. The project and the method can be divided into four deliverables: 1) definitions and categorization of information assets 2) a guideline of how information assets can be identified 3) a model for the valuation of information assets from various internal and external demands and needs, and 4) a framework for classification of information assets.
