Municipality chief nurses (MAS) obstacles and possibilities to fulfill their duties in municipal health care.
About this project
Project information
The purpose of the project is to explore the obstacles and possibilities for municipal chief nurses to fulfill their duties and thereby contribute to increased patient safety in municipal health care.
There is a fragmentary organization in geriatric care with various health care actors in which municipal chief nurses are responsible for leading patient safety in municipal health care. The Corona Commission has concluded that there are shortcomings in the care and nursing of elderly people and some of these shortcomings fall within the area of responsibility of municipal chief nurses. At the same time, there are no regulations on their organizational position or which decision-making mandate they need to fulfill their duties. The profession demands a clarification of their role.
The project is planned to be carried out with a mixed method study and three qualitative studies. The four sub-studies together are expected to provide a theoretical framework in which the actions and interactions of different health care actors affect the decision-making mandates of municipal chief nurses in the field of patient safety.
