Research subject

In this research project, an occupational therapy school-based intervention is being tested in Swedish schools to promote participation in the school environment for students with disabilities. The intervention was developed and evaluated in Canada. In the project, an occupational therapist works in close collaboration with classroom teachers to meet the needs for environmental and activity adaptations at the class, group, and individual levels. The approach is based on universal design for learning.

The project is led by researchers at Uppsala University, including project leader Maria Borgestig, postdocs Moa Yngve and Vedrana Baric, Associate Professor Inna Feldman, University Lecturer Kine Johansen, as well as Helene Lidström, Senior Lecturer at Linköping University, Jenny Wilder, Professor at Stockholm University, and Nina Klang, Senior Lecturer at Mälardalen University. There is also research collaboration with researchers in the Netherlands who are evaluating the school-based intervention.
