Can KMC decrease morbidity and mortality in low birth weight infants?
About this project
Project information
Kangaroo mother care (KMC) is a care method where the preterm infant is placed naked on the parents’ bare chest with only a diaper and possibly a cap. This has been shown to have positive effects on both infants and parents where the infant can get a more stable temperature, shorter length of stay at the hospital as well as benefits on attachment between parents and infant. Previous systematic reviews support the use of KMC for a decreased morbidity and mortality in less developed countries and this repeated review will include the latest research.
