Parents of infants with BPD
About this project
Project information
The most common complication for extremely preterm infants is bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD). Children with BPD have an increased risk of medical and respiratory issues that can remain until adulthood, and it is common that children with BPD need respiratory support and/or supplemental oxygen when discharged. It is previously known that parents of children that needed NICU care experience a negative impact on their health related quality of life and when the child is discharged with continuous care needs this negative impact on the parents remains.
The aim of this study is to explore parents experiences of being a parent of an extremely preterm infant affected by BPD. The project is a qualitative study where parents are interviewed and is a collaboration between Örebro University, Region Örebro County and Region Uppsala.
