This research project is an ethnomusicological explanatory study on affective sensations during performances of kulning. In the centre stands the female voice and body and their capacities to explore, experience and construct the key concepts heritage and empowerment connected to femininity and women’s history. Studies is made on vocal heritage and empowerment as affective body practices, and how these concepts happen and are felt in relations between body, voice, vocalizer and kulning (music). All to uncover knowledge on why women engage in kulning in Sweden today.
