Sexual pain in men is relatively understudied, considering that between 5 and 15 % of all men are estimated to suffer from pelvic pain, which for instance is linked to sexual pain. The aim of the project was to increase the knowledge about sexual pain in younger men.
By using self-report data from among 2500 men between 18 and 40 years, the following questions were investigated:
1. To what extent is sexual pain reported by men between 18 and 40 years old?
2. Is there a link between sexual pain and psychological health?
3. Is there a link between sexual pain and other types of sexual dysfunction?
4. What coping strategies are used to handle sexual pain?
