Gender structures are taken for granted in the growing restaurant sector, they are regarded as natural, usual and commonplace. This study examines everyday life, to see how gender structures in restaurant environments are reproduced in order to improve the working conditions. This project gives special attention to those women who are working as chefs. Of central importance is the question how female chefs develop and create their professional and personal lives.
