The meal in prison
About this project
Project information
A new model for inmates meals intended for implementation in the whole of Sweden. "Self-catering" was the catchword where the inmates on a ward were intended to plan, order or purchase food stuffs, cook and serve/eat the meals together. A meal concept intended as a positive and easily acceptable idea turned out to contain questions of identity, power, feelings, meaning, and symbols. "Food is more than feed, it is both mouth and mind". Conference proceedings for further research.
