About Peter Johansson
Peter Johansson is a Professor of Physics.
Research
Peter Johansson's research is in theoretical solid state physics. In recent years he has primarily worked on plasmonics, the study of optical and electromagnetic properties of nanoparticles and nanostructures, usually made out of noble metals. These systems can be used to control, manipulate, and concentrate light at very short length scales, shorter than the light wavelength. Plasmonic effects have applications, for example in the study of various biomolecules with optical techniques such as Raman scattering. Most of the work is carried out in collaboration with experimental groups, in particular at Chalmers University of Technology in Göteborg.
