Olle Ljungqvist Professor of Surgery is studying the reactions to surgical stress and how modifications of these responses may help to optimize recovery after major operations. He is the co-initiator and leading a large international project called Enhanced Recovery After Surgery by serving as the Chairman of a non for profit medical organization; the ERAS Society

Olle Ljungqvist is also Chairman of a European project in clinical nutrition; European Nutrition for Health Alliance (ENHA), a Charity registered in the UK. ENHA is active across Europe improving nutritional care for patients and elderly people. This work is performed in collaboration with a number of organisations including the European Society for Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism (ESPEN) and the WHO Europe.
