Very early mobilization after surgery: effects and experiences among patients
About this project
Project information
Early mobilization is part of the ERAS concept (Enhanced Recovery After Surgery) for a faster recovery after surgery. However, not all patients achieve the set mobilisation targets. According to ERAS, the patient should be mobilised out of bed ≥ 2 h on the day of the surgery and then ≥4-6h (days 1-3). Studies are lacking on how early after surgery, a targeted mobilization can be carried out as well as its frequency and intensity, as well as the effect on the functional and activity level in the short- and long-term perspective. The aim of this research project is to investigate whether early targeted mobilization provides an increased level of function and activity postoperatively after surgery in a randomized controlled trial and to describe how the patient who underwent early mobilization and staff experienced the intervention and description of the postoperative recovery in terms of health and disability up to 12 months.
