About Martina Vikander
Martina Vikander is a qualified social worker and holds a PhD in Social Work. She has previously worked as a social worker specialising in child welfare services. In 2025, she defended her doctoral thesis Children in the Liberation from Violence: Vulnerability and Resistance in Contexts of Men’s Violence Against Women.
Research
Martina Vikander’s research focuses on men’s violence against women and children. In her dissertation, she analysed how children who have experienced domestic violence relate to the violence, to the adult world, and to the possibility of change. Her work also examines the role of the state in shaping the conditions of children exposed to violence, through investigations, interventions, and the recognition of violence.
She is currently involved in the research projects RiskSam and SUKSE.
Teaching
Martina Vikander contributes to teaching within the social work programme, as well as in stand-alone national and international courses in social work. She also supervises student theses.

Martina is actively involved in research networks focusing on men’s violence against women and children, as well as violence in close relationships.
