About David McGreevy

David McGreevy is a specialist vascular surgeon at the Department of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery at Örebro University Hospital. He earned his PhD in 2024 from Örebro University with the dissertation "EndoVascular resuscitation and Trauma Management in hemodynamic instability."

His research focuses on innovative endovascular techniques for hemorrhage control, a key component of the EVTM (EndoVascular resuscitation and Trauma Management) concept, aimed at improving outcomes for patients with acute hemodynamic instability.

In addition, David conducts research on the metabolic and inflammatory processes in claudication (peripheral arterial disease) and explores new treatment strategies to enhance patient outcomes.

Other areas of interest include method development in vascular surgery, with a particular emphasis on fistula surgery, treatment of critical limb ischemia, and the development of innovative solutions for blood pressure monitoring and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

David is also an active reviewer for several international scientific journals and is a sought-after speaker at local, national, and international conferences.

He is a member of the European Society for Vascular Surgery (ESVS) guidelines committee, contributing to the development of the first European guidelines for vascular trauma. Furthermore, David serves as the Secretary of the Aortic Trauma Foundation, an international organization dedicated to improving care for patients with traumatic aortic injuries through research, education, and collaboration among specialists worldwide.
