About Anna Stene Hurtsén
Anna Stene Hurtsén is a doctoral student in medical sciences, focusing on surgery, since February 2021. Anna works at the Cardiothoracic and Vascular Department, Örebro University Hospital.
Anna’s research focuses on methods to reduce ischemia-reperfusion injuries, which are problematic during surgical interventions where vessels are compressed or temporarily closed but also in the intensive care unit where circulatory shock is present. The project aims to develop strategies for balancing vascular occlusion time with the subsequent ischemic damage from a circulatory, metabolic and inflammatory perspective.
