Project Objective:
The aim of this thesis is to explore and analyze cybersecurity methods in the context of underground machines at Epiroc.

Key Focus Areas:

  • Analyze the cybersecurity needs and requirements at Epiroc
  • Identify and evaluate various cybersecurity techniques Develop evaluation criteria for these techniques
  • Apply and assess the techniques in a use case
  • Investigate potential enhancements to meet industry needs
  • Propose a cybersecurity process tailored to Epiroc’s existing workflows
  • Develop testing procedures to simulate and address cybersecurity threats

Background:
With each new generation of earth-moving machinery, software plays an increasingly critical role in enabling new technologies and driving innovation. As the complexity of the Electrical/Electronic (E/E) Systems in these machines grows, ensuring robust cybersecurity becomes essential. Automation and tele-remote operation require networked machines, which introduces new cybersecurity challenges that must be addressed to ensure the safe operation of Epiroc’s equipment.

Mission:
Your mission in this thesis project will be to develop and propose tailored cybersecurity analysis methods for Epiroc’s underground machines. This work will need to adhere to applicable standards and regulations while addressing real-world industrial needs.

Qualifications:

  • Proficient in English (advanced level)
  • Knowledge of safety analysis and cybersecurity is an advantage
  • Basic understanding of software engineering
