Muatasem Latif Ali is a PhD candidate at Örebro University, researching the metabolic and resistance mechanisms of Pseudomonas oleovorans about biocides in construction materials and industrial products. He holds a Master of Science in Environmental Risk Analysis from Linnaeus University, Sweden, and a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Baghdad University, Iraq. He also received advanced chemical engineering and technology education from the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH).

In his Ph.D. studies, Muatasem focuses on the resistance mechanisms of P. oleovorans strains, particularly the industrially significant isolate. His dissertation analyzes the unique characteristics of P. oleovorans, highlighting its superior resistance and tolerance to standard biocides compared to the reference strain.
