Om Mia Svantesson
Mia Svantesson är docent i medicinsk etik, affilerad till Örebro universitet, men anställd som forskningshandledare på Universitetssjukvårdens forskningscentrum och etiskt sakkunnig i Region Örebro län. Hon har en bakgrund som specialistsjuksköterska inom intensivvård.
Forskning
Fokus är etikforskning relaterat till beslutsfattande om livsuppehållande behandling/vårdinriktning och metoder för att stödja vård- och omsorgspersonalen om etiskt svåra situationer, sk etikronder som numera benämns som etikstöd. Mia besitter expertis om komplexa forskningsmetoder som behövs för att besvara de etiska frågeställningarna; t ex abduktiv innehållsanalys, etnografi och deltagande observation. Mia har varit involverad eller lett europeiska etikforskningsprojekt. Mia har en betydande publicering av vetenskapliga artiklar, editorials och granskaruppdrag. Hon har även blivit intervjuad i populärvetenskapliga tidskrifter, fått etikpris för etikrondsforskning och nu utsedd som ´outstanding author´ av Annual palliative medicine.
Samarbeten och uppdrag
- Deltagande forskare i europeiska intensivvårdsprojekten ETHICATT och CONFLICUS.
- Senior forskaranställning i ett brittiskt etnografiskt projekt finansierat av National Institute for Health Research om att förstå beslutsprocessen om intensivvård.
- Lett ett forskningsprojekt om bedömningar om intensivvård/vårdnivå under Covid-19, samt om personalens etiska stress.
- Delat projektledarskap University Medical center, Amsterdam i ett Europeiskt samarbete om utveckling av utvärderingsinstrument för etikstöd (tidigare benämnt etikronder) . Revision av instrumentet har övergått till nationellt samarbete med delat projektledarskap med Pernilla Pergert, Karolinska institutet i nationellt etikstödsforskarlag. Beskrivning av olika metoder för etikstöd i Sverige ingår också.
- Ledamot i European Clinical Ethics Network, Svensk sjuksköterske förenings etikdelegation och etiskt sakkunnig i Kliniska etikkkommittén och Politikeretikrådet, RÖL.
- Handledning av sammanlagt nio doktorander med tonvikt på etik.
