Om Mais A.M. Qandeel

Dr. Qandeel är universitetslektor i internationell rätt samt juridik och teknologi. Hon är expert på internationell humanitär rätt och Palestinafrågan med mer än 15 års erfarenhet av arbete vid nationella och internationella människorättsorganisationer samt akademiska institutioner i Schweiz, Belgien, Nederländerna, USA och Palestina.

Hon har en juridisk magisterexamen (LLM) i internationell rätt från universitetet i Pittsburg, USA, och en doktorsexamen (Ph.D.) i internationell humanitär rätt (med fokus på Palestina) från Fribourg universitet i Schweiz. I sin bibliografi har hon titlar som: Enforcing Human Rights of Palestinians in the Occupied Territory, Violence and State Attribution: The Case of Palestine, och The Palestinian Environment under Military Occupation: International Humanitarian Law Perspective, se nedan under "Publikationer".

Hennes forskning följer de tre tematiska riktningarna: i) frågan om ockupationen av Palestina, ii) inverkan av nya teknologier på mänskliga rättigheter och kopplingen till normer för informationsteknologi och cybersäkerhet, och ii) miljöskydd i internationell rätt.

Hon är examinator och föreläsare i kurserna i) Legal tech, AI och automatisering, ii) Cybersäkerhet och cyberbrottslighet, iii) Komparativ rätt i Europa och världen. Hennes undervisning täcker ett brett spektrum av ämnen, som digital diskriminering, rättsstatsprincipen, skyddet av data och personuppgifter, rättsliga aspekter av cybersäkerhet och internationella rättsliga normer. Hon undervisar även i juridiskt skrivande, internationella mänskliga rättigheter och internationell humanitär rätt (lagen om väpnad konflikt) i andra kurser både på grund och avancerad nivå.
