Om András Büki

Andras Buki has been pursuing research activity in the field of neurosciences since over 30 years including a two-years fellowship at the Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA studying proteolytic processes in traumatic axonal injury.

He was awarded the Aesculap Research Price (2000) and the European Lecturer Award (2022) of the European Association of Neurosurgical Societies (EANS). 

He chaired a clinical department at the University of Pecs, in Hungary for seven years before he moved to Sweden in January 2022, as Professor of Neurosurgery at Örebro University and consultant neurosurgeon at the University Hospital, Region Örebro Län.  

He has served as work package leader for biomarker research within the framework of the EU FP-7 funded CENTER TBI project and have been participating in InTBIR since its grounding.

He is past president of the Hungarian Neurosurgical Society, of the International Neurotrauma Society and past- treasurer of the EANS.

He is board member of the European Brain Injury Consortium and the Scandinavian Neurotrauma Committee, editorial board member of Brain and Spine, Journal of Neurotrauma and Frontiers Neurotrauma.

His focus as an active neurosurgeon is primarily at the field of skull base surgery and neurotrauma.

His current research interest is related to the role of biomarkers in the diagnostics and prognostication of brain injuries of various severity and origin.
