Mis(sing) Information Workshop 3: Educational perspective

25 mars 2025 09:00 – 11:00 Microsoft Teams Meeting

The Mis(sing) Information Initiative – Workshops Series

The Mis(sing) Information project, which is funded by the Riksbankens Jubileumfond explores how selective information—through omission or emphasis—shapes public understanding and challenges trust. With digital technologies accelerating information spread, this project focuses on the effects within education, examining how such skewed narratives impact critical thinking and democratic values. By integrating insights from multiple disciplines, the project seeks to address the educational and legal challenges posed by Mis(sing) Information, supporting accurate knowledge dissemination and democratic engagement.

During 8 online workshops we will explore different perspectives on the concept of Mis(sing) Information, for the purpose to build collaborative networks, groups and research proposals. The 9-10th of December 2025 Örebro University will host an interdisciplinary conference on the topic.

You are invited to submit an abstract (maximum 1 page) to attend on the conference to magnus.kristoffersson@oru.se not later than 31st of August 2025. If your abstract is accepted you be invited to hold a presentation during the conference, and travel and accommodation will be paid by the Mis(sing) Information consortium.

Workshop 3 – Educational perspective on Mis(sing) information

Welcome to the third workshop in the Mis(sing) Information workshop series!

In the third workshop in the Mis(sing) Information series, the focus will be on educational perspectives of omitted or missing information. This workshop explores the educational implications of Mis(sing) Information, highlighting how selective information impacts teaching practices and students’ understanding of wider social, cultural and political complexities in national and international contexts. The discussion will reflect on the challenges and opportunities for fostering analytical skills, emphasizing education’s role in helping individuals to develop effective agency, support social cohesion and foster (democratic) citizenship, among others through the ability to assess information reliability and be aware of the limitations of available/assessable information.
