Welcome!
MV Science Forum invites you to a lecture with Xiaofeng Yang, MD, PhD, FAHA, is Professor of Cardiovascular Sciences, Immunology and Pharmacology, Associate Director in Lemole Center for Integrated Lymphatics and Vascular Research.
Dr. Yang’s seminar will discuss several new concepts including:
1) aorta is an innate immune organ;2) endothelial cells and vascular smooth muscle cells are innate immune cells;3) early hyperlipidemia promote metabolomic reprogram to establish trained immunity (innate immune memory);4) Intracellular immunology and Mitochondria as immune organelles; and 5) CD4+Foxp3+ regulatory T cells have immunosuppressive functions sustained under pathological conditions.
Xiaofeng Yang, MD, PhD, FAHA, is Professor of Cardiovascular Sciences, Immunology and Pharmacology, Associate Director in Lemole Center for Integrated Lymphatics and Vascular Research. Dr. Yang also served as the President, Medical Faculty Senate in the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University in Philadelphia, USA. After completed his MD trainings in the Nanchang University School of Medicine and Peking Union Medical College in 1983, Dr. Yang received the PhD degree in Molecular Biology in the University of Montreal in 1994. Dr. Yang completed his postdoctoral fellowship in immunology in Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts, USA in 1999. Dr. Yang’s research, currently funded by NIH R01 grants, has been focused on determining the molecular mechanisms underlying regulation of vascular inflammation in atherosclerosis, abdominal aortic aneurysm, chronic kidney disease, and metabolically healthy obesity, etc. Dr. Yang has published more than 250 peer-reviewed publications in high profile journals. Professor Yang was a Charter member in NIH-Atherosclerosis and Cardiovascular Inflammation (AVI, former Atherosclerosis and Inflammation of Cardiovascular System, AICS) Study Section (for NIH R01 grant reviewing). Dr. Yang serves on the editorial boards and reviewers for numerous professional journals including Nature Reviews, Circulation, European Heart Journal, Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis, and Vascular Biology (ATVB) and Redox Biology. Dr. Yang also serves on the American Heart Association (AHA)-ATVB Council Leadership Committee Member.
Organiser Associate Professor Isak Demirel.
The lecture will be given in English.
