This thesis is situated within the field of Development Informatics/Informatics and Information and Communication Technology for Development (ICT4D). Drawing on the Capability Approach of Amartya Sen, the aim of this study is to show the linkage between ICT interventions and development as enabling of capabilities for individuals. The ICT interventions under investigation concern ICT use in various education contexts. Case studies are conducted in Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Sweden, and Kenya.
