Tuition fees

To confirm the admission the tuition fee must be paid. This will also enable students who need to apply for resident permit to start the residence permit application process.

It is very important to read our guidelines for students required to pay fees before paying the tuition fee. By paying the tuition fee, it is certified that the information on this page and Students required to pay fees – Guidelines have been read and understood.

If the tuition fee is not paid in time the admission will be cancelled and the applicant are no longer admitted for the education. 

A student on a study programme who do not pay the tuition fee for the upcoming semester despite a reminder will be suspended from the programme immediately, until the tuition fee has been paid.

If you do not intend to attend the studies you are admitted to, please make sure to decline the offer. 

  • The invoice is available on Ladok for students a few days after the final notification of selection result has been published on 'My Pages' on universityadmissions.se or antagning.se.
  • Admitted students receive an email from no-reply@ladok.se when the invoice is available on Ladok for students.
  • If you need a resident permit for studies; to get a decision in time for the start of your education, it is important that you pay the tuition fee as soon as possible and then immediately apply for a residence permit.
  • The last payment date is stated on the invoice.
  • Log in on Ladok for students by choosing access through your institution if you already an active student in Sweden. If you are a new student, then choose the third option; Antagning.se/Universityadmisisons.se. You use the same username and password as on universityadmissions.se or antagning.se.
  • When logged in on Ladok for students you find the invoice by choosing payment details on the current instalment.
  • For us to match the payment with the education it is important to indicate the reference number and the admitted students full name when paying the tuition fee.
  • The full amount stated on the invoice must be paid no later than due date. It is not possible to pay the invoice by instalments. 
  • It is only possible to pay by Visa or MasterCard or by bank transfer. We strongly recommend paying the tuition fee with Visa or MasterCard through payment online. Please note that bank transfers can take a long time and in event of reimbursement, problems often arise. It is not possible to pay the tuition fee in cash.
  • Note that we receive the payment in Swedish krona (SEK) and that the bank and transfer charges are the responsibility of the payer. As the exchange rates vary from day to day, use the daily exchange rate when you pay. Make sure that the transferred amount covers the tuition fee in SEK. 
  • If paying the tuition fee on due date, please send an email to our Admissions Office.

By paying the tuition fee, it is certified that Students required to pay fees – Guidelines have been read and understood.

Örebro University Scholarship

  • Students admitted for a master's programme through Universityadmissions.se (with admissions results published in March) and having Örebro University as first priority are eligible to apply to our Scholarship Programme.
  • When a student has been granted and accepted the scholarship, the tuition fee status on Ladok for students updates to scholarship. 
  • You will receive an email from no-reply@ladok.se when your status on Ladok for students has been updated. 

Swedish Institute (SI) scholarship

  • If awarded and accepted a scholarship from SI, please contact our Admissions Office.
  • When Örebro university has confirmed the scholarship with SI, the tuition fee status on Ladok for students updates to scholarship.
  • You will receive an email from no-reply@ladok.se when your status on Ladok for students has been updated. 

Log in on Ladok for students by choosing access through your institution if you are already an active student in Sweden. If you are a new student then choose the third option; Antagning.se/Universityadmisisons.se. You use the same username and password as on universityadmissions.se or antagning.se.

  • When the full payment for the education admitted to has been received by Örebro University the tuition fee status on Ladok for students updates. You will receive an email from no-reply@ladok.se when your status on Ladok for students has been updated. 
  • It usually takes several working days until Örebro University receives the payment. If the payment is made from abroad, it usually takes longer.
  • When the tuition fee status is updated, a confirmation of payment will be available on Ladok for students: to find the confirmation choose Tuition fees in the Menu and then choose the paid instalment.
  • Please note that the status as a conditionally admitted student will not be updated on the notification of selection result after the payment. The tuition fee status will only be updated on Ladok for students.
  • You decline your admission under 'My Pages' and 'Application' after you log in on universityadmissions.se or antagning.se.
  • If you cannot decline under 'My Pages' you need to contact your study advisor. Contact information to our study advisors is found on our web page.
  • If you decline your admission and do not start the education admitted to then it is possible to apply and be admitted to the education again. 

If you decline your admission, you can apply for reimbursement of tuition fee; information is found under “Reimbursement”.

  • When you have paid the tuition fee, you must register to start the education. Registration usually takes place just before, or when the education starts. Information about registration will be sent to you by e-mail from the educational administration.
  • If you do not register in time, your admission will be cancelled, and you are no longer admitted.
  • Please note that the Swedish Migration Agency is automatically informed when a student has not registered in time and is therefore no longer admitted.
  • If you have registered for the education and want to discontinue the studies early, you need to do that within 3 weeks of the start of the education to be able to apply and be admitted to the education again. 

If your admission is cancelled due to not register in time you can apply for reimbursement of tuition fee; information is found under “Reimbursement”.

  • For students admitted to a programme, the tuition fee is paid by instalments, one instalment (invoice) for each semester on the programme.
  • Students on a programme receive an email from no-reply@ladok.se when the invoice for the upcoming semester is available on Ladok for students. 
  • The tuition fee for each semester must be paid in advance. The full amount for each invoice must be paid at once, we do not accept further instalments.
  • A student on a programme who do not pay the tuition fee for the upcoming semester despite a reminder will be suspended from the programme immediately, until the tuition fee has been paid.

The invoice for an upcoming spring semester is available on Ladok for students in late November/early December. Last date to pay for an upcoming spring semester is 1 January.

The invoice for an upcoming autumn semester is available on Ladok for students in late April. Last date to pay for an upcoming autumn semester is 1 August.

If you have been assessed as required to pay tuition fee, but you do not agree with this assessment please read the information below. 

  • The tuition fee status of a student is determined during the application process based on the submitted documents. 
  • For us to process if you are not required to pay the tuition fee you need to upload decision regarding your residence permit for other reasons than studies from the Swedish Migration Agency.
  • If you have an expired residence permit that was granted based on something other than studies and have already applied for an extension, you may be exempted from paying tuition fee. For us to process if you are exempted from paying tuition fee you need to upload a copy of your previous residence permit decision as well as a receipt from the Swedish Migration Agency indicating that you've applied for an extension of your previous residence permit.
  • The university will decide about a change to your tuition fee status. If you are unable to provide sufficient evidence, the fee-payer status will remain unchanged.

You upload the documents on 'My Pages' and 'Application' after you log in on universityadmissions.se or antagning.se. You must contact our Admissions Office after uploaded the documents.

  • Please note that according to the Swedish Migration Agency you must have paid the tuition fee before applying for a residence permit for your studies.
  • To get a decision in time for the start of your education, it is important that you pay the tuition fee as soon as possible and then immediately apply for a residence permit.
  • If you have received your notification of selection results in July/August or December and must apply for a residence permit for studies, it may be difficult to get a decision before the education start. 
  • The Swedish Migration Agency will automatically be informed about the tuition fee payment through Ladok.
  • If you are awarded a scholarship for tuition fees from Örebro University or SI, the Swedish Migration Agency will automatically be notified via Ladok that the tuition fee has been paid with a scholarship.
  • The Swedish Migration Agency also are automatically informed about your status as a student. They recieve information from Ladok if a student does not register in time/start the programme, are granted study leave or discontinue the education. The also receive information about reimbursement of the tuition fee and suspension due to not paying tuition fee. 
  • Please note that if you are not an active student, your residence permit for study may be affected. 

Örebro University can neither influence nor speed up the process for a resident permit. Örebro University cannot assist you in the process.

  • The notification of selection result is available on ‘My Pages’ at universityadmissions.se or antagning.se. 
  • The notification is the official document and shall be used, for example, when applying for a residence permit.
  • Please note that the conditional admittance will not be updated on the notification after the payment. The tuition fee status will only be updated on Ladok for students.
  • Students who pay tuition fee for their studies are covered by a special insurance offered by the Swedish government (Kammarkollegiet) called FAS+, provided that the tuition fee is fully paid.
  • When applying for residence permit through the Swedish Migration Agency’s online application system, the student will be asked to provide proof of insurance. The notification of selection result is valid as evidence of the insurance policy through Örebro University.

  • The basic principle is that an admitted student commences their education the semester specified on the admission decision.
  • To be able to apply for deferment of studies, the tuition fee must have been paid. If you cannot pay the tuition fee you have to decline your offer and apply for the studies again in the next admission round.
  • Please note that a rejection of your application for a resident permit for studies is not a special reason for being granted a deferment of studies. The fact that the Swedish Migration Agency has not decided regarding your application is also not a special reason for being granted a deferment of studies.
  • In exceptional cases, the admitted student can if special grounds exist, apply for deferment of studies. It is important that the student can prove the grounds referred to.

  • Reimbursement of tuition fees is regulated in Students required to pay fees - Guidelines.pdf
  • In the event of reimbursement, it can only be made to the account from which the payment was made. The University´s bank will make a reversed payment.
  • An administrative fee is charged once the reimbursement has been approved. The administrative fee amounts to SEK 5,000.
  • The time within an application for reimbursement is to be received by the university is regulated in Students required to pay fees - Guidelines.
  • If you have not registered in time (not started the education admitted to), your admission will be cancelled and you are no longer admitted. In this case it is possible to be reimbursed, please note that an application for reimbursement must be submitted within 3 weeks from the official start of the education. You can find the start date under more information of the education on 'My Pages' on universityadmissions.se or antagning.se.
  • If you have registered and started the education and then discontinue your studies it may be possible to be reimbursed. Please note that an application for reimbursement must be submitted within 3 weeks from the date when the programme was discontinued. More information can be found in the guidelines. 
  • Please note that if the tuition fee was paid through bank transfers, reimbursement can take a long time and problems often arise.
