Flammable goods
A permit is required so that the municipality can inspect that the handling of flammable goods is performed safely and follows the law. The type and amount of flammable goods, how it is handled, and whether it is for private or professional use determine whether a permit is required. Flammable goods are gases or gas mixtures which can ignite in air at 20 °C, e.g., LPG, methane and ammonia, liquids with a flash point below 100 °C, e.g., petrol, fuel oil, acetone and fire-reactive substances and mixtures that can sustain a fire or react violently in the event of a fire or resulting in fire. These are specified in Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB) regulations. There are exemptions from the permit requirement for handling small quantities of flammable goods for certain types of plants. These are reported in the permit regulations for handling flammable gases and liquids, MSBFS 2013:3. A permit application for handling flammable materials is sent to the Nerike Fire Department (Nerikes brandkår). Note that this permit is time-limited, and a new one must be applied for before the previous one expires.
