This is the Post Graduate School for Integrated Care

The demographic development in Sweden is a challenge with fewer people to offer care to an increasingly aging population where the proportion of avoidable, so-called lifestyle diseases is increasing. Integrated care means a change where the care is co-created with the residents and where the work is person-centred, cohesive, proactive and health-promoting. The transition to integrated care involves an extensive process where several levels within Sweden's regions and municipalities must find new forms for their mission. This means that we must train healthcare personnel who can work in a new way and that we must research both important parts of integrated care and the transition itself.

The Post Graduate School for Integrated Care is a collaboration between Örebro University, Dalarna University, Jönköping University and Linköping University together with regional and municipal actors. Doctoral students are recruited to both by announcing doctoral positions and by allowing already accepted doctoral students with relevant projects to apply.

Through courses, seminars and thesis work, new researchers and teachers are trained who are prepared to further train in health and medical education and to do research on integrated care. The doctoral students also get access to a national and international network and the opportunity for scientific collaboration.

Through the unique collaboration between four universities, regional and municipal actors and patient representatives, the Post Graduate School for Integrated Care will contribute to a successful development of healthcare, to the benefit of Sweden's population.

The research school in practice

All doctoral students are admitted to the general study plan at one of the four participating universities and take the courses included there. In addition, there are two compulsory courses on integrated care in theory and practice, given by Linköping University in collaboration with the South-Eastern Healthcare Region.

Doctoral students in the Post Graduate School for Integrated Care participate in an annual meeting, preferably together with their supervisors. The kick-off is April 15-16 in Örebro. We arrange regular webinars on current topics and communicate via the research school's calendar and via a digital learning platform (Bb Learn).
