Course content

The course is an individual reading course with focus on acquiring knowledge in a relevant research area that relates to the PhD student's thesis. The aim is to acquire knowledge of theories and methods within the current research area based on previous research.

Course information

The course is given twice per year and is an individual course. The course requires a written report as well as an oral presentation, both in English. The PhD student and their supervisor/co-supervisors are responsible for nomination of at least two potential co-examiners. Only one of the nominated co-examiners will be engaged during the course. The course examiner makes the final decision regarding the appointment of the co-examiner.

Being co-examiner means reading the student's written report based on the course literature, as well as participating in the oral presentation, which takes approximately 30-60 minutes.

The report shall be read and checked by the supervisor/co-supervisor before it is submitted to the examiner, co-examiner and the course coordinator.

You may choose books as part of the course literature. However, the reading and the written report should refer to the original articles that the books are based upon.

The written report must be submitted via e-mail to the course coordinator ignacio.rangel@oru.se and fouadm.mv@oru.se and be uploaded to Bb Learn two weeks before the oral examination.

The examination in the spring of 2024 is held on March 15th.
