From Bench to Bedside: Translational Precision Medicine, 7.5 Credits
This course considers the evidence basis of translational precision medicine from preclinical evidence gained through laboratory and animal studies, via observational studies and clinical trials to finally reach consensus in systematic reviews and meta-analyses. Students will learn about translatability of results gained from preclinical model system, clinical trials including relevant laws and regulations, conduct a small-scale systematic review and listen to from-bench-to-bedside success stories. By understanding both the preclinical and clinical aspects, students can appreciate the entire journey of medical innovation, from bench to bedside, equipping them with the skills to contribute to the development of new medical interventions and to collaborate across disciplines.
This course can be taken together with the parallel course Bioinformatics, AI and network biology för precision medicine and health, 7.5 credits. This course is also included as a module in the course Precision medicine and health: Nutrition, microbiome, translational aspects and bioinformatics, 30 credits.
