Shopping and Entertainment

Örebro can offer a variety of shopping, restaurants, and cultural and musical events. There are many shops in the city centre and also a shopping mall called Marieberg Galleria where IKEA is located and easily reached with buses from the city centre (bus no 1 and no 701). There are nightclubs with famous live-artist performances and small clubs, pubs, and restaurants with different profiles and menus.

The water tower Örebro "Svampen" - The Mushroom

Svampen is a water tower in Örebro with the height of 58 meters and it's built in 1958.  At this place you van enjoy coffe, lunch or have a drink and the view is spectacular and possible to see Örebro in 360 degrees. Svampåen is situated only 2,2 km north of Örebro Castle in the city centre.  

Wadköping

In central Örebro, you will find Stadsparken (the city park) situated alongside the river Svartån. Here you will find the Wadköping, with its old wooden houses and gardens. Enjoy its museums, wood turner workshop, exhibitions, café, restaurant, bakery a long with many other exciting shops and artisan workshops.

Culture and Leisure in Örebro

Örebro is a town where there is always something to see and do. Take a beautiful walk in the city centre with its majestic castle. Around ten minutes from the city centre you’ll find the nature reserves Oset and Rynningeviken with great paths for hiking or cycling. The nature reserves are located by the lake Hjälmaren which is the fourth largest lake in Sweden

Sports

Örebro is a major sports city with several well established elite clubs in many different sports. The top teams and most popular in Örebro is ice hockey, fotball, volleyball and bandy. These teams really put Örebro on the sports map of Sweden. There is always some sporting event to watch and always many opportunities to do a variety of sports.

The municipality

The municipality of Örebro is governed by the municipal council, with representatives from the political parties that is elected by the people every fourth year. Örebro has around 40 municipal compulsory schools, 15 independent schools and one university. The university is one of the largest employers along with Epiroc and the university hospital. Örebro is also the European Capital of Sign Language and has the only national high school for deaf and hard of hearing students in Sweden.
