Previous research has consistently shown that students from non-academic backgrounds are less prone to pursue a university education even when they have high levels of achievement in school. While several educational initiatives have sought to increase the number of students from non-academic backgrounds in higher education, the Linje 14 program at Örebro University stands out as one of the most long-lasting efforts of this type. By analyzing longitudinal statistical data and wide-ranging qualitative material, the research project investigates to what extent and through what means this educational initiative creates the conditions for widening the representation and participation of students from non-academic backgrounds in higher education.
