From the sea to the land beyond. Cooperation and conflicts around whales and whaling within the global whaling debate.
About this project
Project information
The project explores the interactions and frictions between different groups within debates around nature, with the case of marine biologists within whaling debates as the subject of its empirical focus. . This research examines how enskillment processes occur amongst marine biologists and how this affects their subsequent perspectives on nature and research practice. Thus, this research will then examine how this then reinforces polarisation within environmental debates. The aim throughout is to examine individual cases and avoid reducing diverse communities to homogenous, single-issue groups and at the same time keeping the connections between different places, debates and issues sharply in view.
