The role of municipalities in Swedish labour market policies
About this project
Project information
Swedish municipalities have been increasingly involved in designing and delivering labour market policies. This involvement especially concerns long-term unemployed people in need of social assistance. However, the involvement overlaps with the responsibilities of the Public Employment Service – a national agency responsible for increasing employment rates. This overlap results in opportunities but also limitations. These consequences are the area of interest in this project. The aim is to expand the knowledge concerning the current, and prospect, role of Swedish municipalities in labour market policies. The project is carried out with a multi-method approach, including both qualitative case studies and public data.
