Statistical estimation strategies using asymptotic arguments

The research has in the past mainly been concentrated on estimation problems concerning population totals within the survey sampling area. The focus has then shifted towards situations, as, for example, alternative confidence intervals for some parameter which adjusts for skewness of underlying distributions. Plans have also been made to extend the developed techniques to multivariate cases in order to obtain reliable confidence regions. Another field of interest will probably be data mining situations.
