Longitudinal development of hand function in children and youth with unilateral cerebral palsy
About this project
Project information
In this longitudinal project the development of hand function in children with unilateral cerebral palsy during the ages 18 months to 18 years is studied. The primary outcome measure is the Assisting Hand Assessment and the children are measured repeatedly with the aim to create development curves describing development, and identify factors that can predict development. Some results have already been published; development curves for the ages 18 months to 12 years (Holmefur et al. 2010, Nordstrand et al. 2016), how type of brain lesion can predict development of hand function (Holmefur et al. 2013) and the possible long-term effects of modified Constraint-Induced Movement Therapy (Eliasson & Holmefur 2013).
