Dear Hunters. Ecocritical Perspectives on Swedish Hunting Films 2008 - 2012

The aim of the project is to study ecocritical perspectives on the relationship between man and nature in Swedish hunting films 2008 - 2012. The following questions will be answered:

1. Which ecocritical positions are brought about, challenged and/or parodied in the films?
2. Which formal and rhetorical strategies are used to communicate different positions?
3. How do the films relate to the ideas and debates about sustainability in the Swedish official and hegemonic environmentalist discourses?

Theoretically and methodologically the project relates to ecocriticism, documentary film study,(neo-)formalism, rhetoric, parody and discourse analysis. It will will focus on Swedish films about hunting in Sweden produced between 2008 - 2012 that are either uploaded or promoted on YouTube.
