Hur påverkar fibrer mag- och tarmbarriären hos äldre personer
About this project
Project information
Through experimental studies using the Ussing chamber technique, we have been able to show that beta-glucan from yeast has the ability to prevent mast cell-induced intestinal permeability in elderly persons with moderate GI symptoms as well as Crohn's patients. To find out if dietary fibers also have the ability to alleviate moderate symptoms of constipation and diarrhea, clinical studies are now being carried out. These studies also elucidate the effect of the supplements on the intestinal permeability as well as gut microbiota composition.
