Reference functions for blood borne and sexually transmitted infections (STI) in Sweden

This is part of the WHO Collaborating Center on Pathogenic Neisseria and other STIs established at Örebro University Hospital laboratories. The center was also recently granted national reference functions for several STIs including the human T-lymphotropic virus types 1 and 2 (HTLV-1/2). The work includes evaluation of diagnostic tools, tests and strategies. Epidemiological surveys for follow up of the relevance of screening strategies are carried out. Consultancies for the WHO are regularly performed.
