Orthopaedics deals with disorders and injuries in the musculoskeletal system. Focus is on surgical treatment, and common surgical procedures are hip and knee replacements, fracture repairs, back surgery and various corrective procedures on children with bone misalignment, as well as soft tissue procedures in shoulders and knees. Research at the orthopaedics department also focuses on some of these areas and aims at evaluating surgical treatments and developing new surgical treatment methods.
