The project group for Teenage Sleep traveled together.

At the beginning of October, 3,600 sleep researchers from all over the world gathered in Seville to share each other's research and discuss sleep. Annika Norell, Serena Bauducco and Osame Salim participated from CHAMP.

Serena presented experiments on how teenage girls' texting leads to later bedtimes, if the girls had good quality friendships and if they are impulsive. Annika presented a survey study on how teenagers of different genders sleep. Girls and young people outside the binary gender norm sleep worse than boys. A higher degree of stress explained this finding. Osame showed survey data on how the psychological processes we primarily associate with insomnia, such as worry and unhelpful ideas about how sleep works, also occur in other sleep problems such as sleep apnea and restless legs.

The conference provided many new ideas and opportunities to deepen collaborations with international contacts.
