Research cooperation with Qatar

In March Hazem Khalaf visited Qatar in order to establish contacts with researchers at universities and research institutes. In connection with this, Hazem met the Swedish Ambassador Ewa Polano. Ewa is very interested and engaged, and a key figure in the establishment of favourable conditions for research collaboration between Örebro University and the research community in Qatar. The group's research, headed by Professor Torbjörn Bengtsson and associate professor Hazem Khalaf, was presented by Hazem in a seminar at the Sidra Medical and Research Center. The research is focused on the development of antimicrobial peptides as an alternative treatment to conventional antibiotic against infections. Discussions are now underway to start up collaboration with research groups in Qatar.
