“Örebro is an amazing city”
As part of Örebro University’s 20th anniversary, more than a hundred exchange students received a guided tour with refreshments at Örebro Castle this past week. “I’ve never been to such a big castle before,” says Eliada Hysa from Greece, one of several exchange students who will study at the university this autumn.
The number of exchange students attending Örebro University has increased significantly. Last autumn, 145 students from outside of Sweden studied in here – this autumn Örebro University has 176 new exchange students. Something that pleases Sofie Sjöberg, who works as International Student Assistant.
“The whole university contributes to our increased internationalisation, which is really important. We also have an increasing number of students from Örebro who choose to study abroad. Together with our previous exchange students, they are excellent ambassadors and say good things about us. Which means that an more and more students are curious about studying here,” says Sofie.
”Everyone is friendly and very helpful”
Charlotte D’Accunto from France, has come to Örebro to study economics. She thought that Örebro was bigger and that there was more shopping here.
“But I think it is really nice here and it’s going to be fun to explore Örebro. I’m looking forward to experiencing snow and a Nordic winter,” says Charlotte.
Sven Manden has moved here from The Netherlands to study business administration. He is inspired over how many exchange students will be be attending Örebro University.
“It’s really nice, with a beautiful castle in the middle of the city. Everyone is friendly and very helpful. And it’s been a really nice welcome at the university as well, so I’m really happy.”
Will move to Sweden
Aliada Hysa from Greece was also impressed by Örebro Castle.
“I’ve never been to such a big castle before. In Greece, we have a lot of castles, but not so big.”
She will study biomedical laboratory science and do her placement at USÖ in the autumn.
“I’m planning on moving here permanently, so I want to learn everything about how life works here. Örebro is an amazing city! And the weather’s been very good these days, so let’s hope it will continue that way,” she says with a laugh.
