Örebro University School of Business has advanced on a ranking of the 1,000 top business schools in the world. “A testimony that our programme is of very high quality,” says Ida Andersson-Norrie, Deputy Head International.
About the ranking
An internationally recognised ranking and rating agency, Eduniversal in Paris ranks the top 1,000 business schools in the world and has done so since 2007.
The criteria for this ranking include, among others, the university’s course and programme offering, the level of internationalisation, recognised accreditations and the university’s position on other ranking lists.
On this year’s ranking, there are nine Swedish higher education institutions. The improved spot on the list now positions Örebro University Business School at the same level as the business schools in Jönköping, Umeå and Linköping. Topping this year’s list in Sweden is the Stockholm School of Economics.
As one of nine business schools in Sweden, Örebro is ranked on Eduniversal’s list since 2016. The global ranking agency rates 16,000 business schools from around the world, ranking the 1,000 best.
This year Örebro University School of Business was awarded three “Palmes of Excellence”, improving its position in the ranking from 2017 of two palms.
Hard work and determination
Deputy Head International Ida Andersson-Norrie and Analyst Pia Bro-Nygårdhs believe that this recognition is the result of hard work and determination.
“We have worked a great deal with internationalisation. The School of Business welcomes many international students each year, opening the opportunity for our students to visit cooperating universities around the world,” says Ida Andersson-Norrie.
Along with the level of internationalisation and the University’s position on other ranking lists, accreditation is a deciding criteria in Eduniversal’s ranking.
Pia Bro-Nygårdhs works with Örebro University School of Business accreditation process, in line with the standards of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the largest global accreditation association for business education.
A hallmark for the school
“An AACSB accreditation works like an ISO certification of degree programmes, a hallmark of sorts. So we are in the final stages of this accreditation process, which takes several years to complete,” she says.
What does advancing on this ranking mean for Örebro University School of Business?
“Foremost, it shows that our programme maintains very high quality. It also increases our possibilities of widening our international partner cooperation, allowing our students to study at other higher education institutions of guaranteed quality around the world,” explains Ida Andersson-Norrie.
Along with Pia Bro-Nygårdhs, she received this year’s recognition at an awards ceremony on Wednesday evening. The event coincided with the Eduniversal World Convention held this year in Dubrovnik, Croatia.
