Setting the mood. Welcoming spring also this year with singing, music and a bonfire by Örebro Castle.

On 30 April, also known as Walpurgis Night, we will again have the chance to celebrate the arrival of spring together by Örebro Castle. In keeping with tradition, a bonfire, speeches, singing and music are on the cards as locals are invited to take part in the celebrations

Örebro University Choir and the designated Walpurgis Choir will provide the musical setting along with staff and students from Örebro University, musicians from the School of Music and the Salvation Army Band – all under the direction of Director Cantorum Fredrik Berglund.

“Celebrating Walpurgis Night by Örebro Castle is an amazing tradition which is so important to all of us who are taking part and to everyone in the audience. We are really excited about this year’s programme, which will include traditional songs that celebrate spring as well as music with a more modern touch,” says Fredrik Berglund.

Drawing large crowds to the castle

The celebratory speech this year will be given by Örebro University’s vice-chancellor, Johan Schnürer. Like in previous years, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Anna-Karin Andershed is master of ceremonies together with Fredrik Berglund. A speech will also be given by the president of Örebro Student Union, Anna Olsenius.

Every year, the event draws thousands of spectators to Örebro Castle.

“We look forward to coming together in this celebration of spring and of freedom. Do join us!” says Fredrik Berglund.

The programme starts on Tuesday 30 April at 21:00. The event is organised by Örebro University in cooperation with Örebro Municipality and Örebro County Administrative Board.
