About Rolf Lidskog
Rolf Lidskog is a sociologist with expertise in environmental sociology, environmental regulation, risk communication and sociology of science.
Research
Rolf Lidskog’s research interests include environmental policy and politics at the international and national levels, especially the role of expertise in environmental governance. A central issue in this research is how actors perceive, evaluate and manage risks, where there are conflicting views on what is the most suitable way to manage them. To answer this question, he has studied a variety of environmental areas: climate change, biodiversity loss, air pollution policy, nuclear waste management and hazardous waste management.
Lecturing and Supervision
Rolf Lidskog lecturing expertise is in the areas of general sociology, environmental sociology, urban sociology and sociology of science. He lectures within areas of environmental and society, environmental regulation and risk communication and research ethics.
Lidskog has supervised 16 PhD-students. During 2005–2010 he was responsible for the university’s course in doctoral supervision.
Publication
Lidskog has published nine books, edited nine books and three special issues as well as published more than 100 articles in peer review journals and some 50 chapters in edited books and handbooks.
Collaboration
He is currently board member of the Swedish Research Council Formas (2019-24) and has been a board member of the Swedish Forest Agency (2013-16), the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (2011-13) and Örebro University (2011-12).
Rolf Lidskog was 2018-2023 vice-president of the research committee Environment and Society at the International Sociological Association (ISA) and is a member of the Senior Advisory Board for research network Environment and Society at the European Sociological Association (ESA)
