About Neziha Akalin

Neziha Akalin is a Ph.D. student in the Centre for Applied Autonomous Sensor Systems (AASS). She is also a researcher in the EU MSCA-ITN project SOCRATES. Neziha Akalin received her MSc degree in Computer Engineering from Istanbul Technical University, Istanbul, Turkey.

Research

Neziha Akalin's research interests include social and assistive robots. Exploring how humans interact with technology is becoming more and more important with the emergence of new technologies, especially with robots. Her current research is focused on understanding factors that affect the perceived safety of individuals during their interactions with robots using qualitative and quantitative measures.

She has worked as a teaching and research assistant in the Computer Engineering Department of Istanbul Technical University. During this period, she also worked as a researcher on several research projects. In one of these projects, she used humanoid robots for teaching sign language to deaf children.
