About Mats Jansson
Mats Jansson is a senior lecturer in piano and chamber music at Örebro University - School of Music, Theatre, and Art.
He studied music under several outstanding teachers, beginning with Marianne Jacobs in Stockholm, and then with Professor Robert Riefling in Oslo. He received degrees from Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media, Mozarteum University Salzburg, and Berlin University of the Arts, studying under Professor Hans Leygraf.
In 1987, he won the international Viotti competition for pianists in Vercelli, Italy.
He has toured throughout Europe, as well as in the USA and Japan. As a soloist he has performed with numerous orchestras, such as The Swedish Chamber Orchestra, Gothenburg Symphony, Stockholm Royal Philharmonic, as well as the symphony orchestras in Helsingborg and Norrköping and the Östgöta Wind Orchestra, under conductors such as Franz Welser-Möst, Jun´ichi Hirokami, Neeme Järvi, Ole Kristian Ruud.
Mats Jansson is a very accomplished and renowned chamber musician and accompanist, with a repertoire from Bach through to present day. He has made numerous recordings for radio and appears on several CDs.
Since its start in 1992, he has been the artistic leader of The Norrköping Chamber Music Society. Mats Jansson has also taught master classes for piano and chamber music at the University of Gothenburg - Academy of Music and Drama, Tokyo College of Music, and at the University of Music at Karlsruhe.
