About Marianne Haug
Marianne Haug is a doctoral candidate affiliated with the Cardiovascular Research Centre at Örebro University. Her academic journey began with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedicine from the University of Skövde, Sweden, followed by a Master of Science degree in Experimental Medicine from Örebro University, Sweden.
Marianne Haug's research is centered around inflammation in cardiovascular disease (CVD), a leading global cause of mortality. Prevailing therapies have traditionally concentrated on aspects such as lipid metabolism, platelet inhibition, or coagulation, but there is a conspicuous gap in treatment options addressing inflammation in CVD. Marianne's PhD project is conducted in close collaboration with industrial partners and is driven by a compelling goal: to investigate the molecular mechanisms and therapeutic potential of novel anti-inflammatory drug candidates concerning vascular inflammation and thromboinflammation in CVD.
